FUEL STRIKES IN FRANCE – WHAT AFFECT IS IT HAVING IN THE VENDEE
Petrol & Diesel is available locally
I am currently here at Le Clarys Plage and wanted to assure all of the families travelling to France to stay with us over the next few days to not panic over all of the unnecessary hype on the TV & news. All but one union blockade at the fuel depots is now clear. There have been no demonstrations locally. There is a cap of 20euros for diesel and 30euros for petrol at all local stations in St Jean de Monts.

What are they striking over????? Here is the French Labour reform bill main points
- The 35-hour week remains in place, but as an average. Firms can negotiate with local trade unions on more or fewer hours from week to week, up to a maximum of 46 hours
- Firms are given greater freedom to reduce pay
- The law eases conditions for laying off workers, strongly regulated in France. It is hoped companies will take on more people if they know they can shed jobs in case of a downturn
- Employers given more leeway to negotiate holidays and special leave, such as maternity or for getting married. These are currently also heavily regulated
On a brighter note we still have some great deals available for July and August.
